Sales: 2
Publications: No footprints on the road to fame and fortune. :)
Approx Word Count: 9,741 words (eek! runs away)
Total Word Count 2009: 119,895 words
Stories out in submission land: Some pretty, some pretty horrific.
WIP: Lucy Baxter and The Evil Emporium (rewrite) - 2970 words (not counted in months count)
May, otherwise known as 'The Unintentional Short Story Month'. I completed four short stories: Ascending the Impossible Tree, Blanket Skies & Silhouettes, The Shelf Life of Stars, and The Sound of Sharp Voices; and one flash story: A Blood-Spattered Letter from Mr. Grim.
Yesterday, I delved back into my first MG, 'Lucy Baxter and The Evil Emporium' and I am in the process of revising it. It's bizarre, scary and lower MG in length - just to ensure myself a rocky ride along the agent path. I'm hoping to spend no more than 10 days smarting it up and fixing the synopsis. *Shudder*. Then I'll settle down to write one of the books that are calling to me... I have 4 MGs, 2 YAs and 1 dark science fiction novella that I want to write. Yeah, good luck with that.

have I told you how much I love the titles to your stories?
That's an awesome word count for 2009 so far! I'm super impressed. Almost 10k in a month is awesome too-- did you want it to be more? Anyhow, yay June is here!
Have fun with Lucy. Have you ever listened to this band called Louis XIV? Every time you say "A Blood Spattered Letter from Mr. Grim" (awesome title, again!), I think of this song of theirs, "A Letter to Dominique". It's very, very Cate.
I always want more. I'm the Veruca Salt of the writing world. :) I was impressed with the word count so far for 2009 until I picked up my calculator and worked out its 794 words a day. Now I'm aiming to get away with only 794 a day. *Evil Grin*
I'll check out Louis XIV.
Cate...I'm happy with 500 words a day, so 794 looks like a nice number. Your titles are amazing.
It's hard not to love a song that contains the line, "Your last stroll down the block was in the trunk of a car...", really.
I get you on the wanting more writing-- I'm the same way. (Actually, my husband refers to me as Veruca when I get like that, now that you mention it.)794 words a day sounds impressive to me, though!
it sounds like you have a lot on your plate, in an awesome way. now write go write pretty books!
Busy, busy, busy...if you ever figure out how to bottle that I'll surely buy some.
Well, MG and YA books are shorter, so that makes them easier to write, right? Right?
You had a great May! Here's to an even better June!
Don't you love that new month smell? : )
I vote for the dark sci-fi novella. I'd love to see what your twisted brain came up with in that space...
That is a super impressive word count for 2009.
Aaron, just like me. ;)
Katey, I think my problem is I look at my word count and divide it by the time spent staring at the wall.
Samantha, do they have to be pretty?
Alan, me too.
Kate, that's what I'm hoping. :) I cheat wherever possible.
I do, Natalie. Especially June. April and June are my favourite months.
BT, the idea has been circulating in my brain for years. I don't think it will ever come to fruition.
Cheers, Danielle.
you busy girl
Your productivity is something I strive for, and have failed miserably so far.
