Who invited the spider?

The Age of Blood & Snow is dead (or halved at least), long live Dead Souls!

YAY!

Morrigan Books have announced the replacement anthology for The Age of Blood & Snow. Or one of them at least as the original TOC is being divided into 2 separate anthologies. Dead Souls contains my story 'When the Cloak Falls', plus stories from Michael Stone, Gary McMahon, & Simon Stranzas, among others. Full TOC will be announced soon.

It will be available in March 2009.

Oh, and I am a wee bit excited - I mean, check out that cover.

'tis a nice cover (as I commented on Mike's blog). I actually like it better than the original Age of Blood and Snow cover.

That is a creepy cover for sure; the anthology sounds good, although I must admit I preferred the Age of Blood and Snow title--it was so evocative. But this one's good too, especially since they had the good sense to include one of your stories!

I think my story is more suited to this cover (though it involves neither eyes or spiders) than the original cover. But I love both.

I still don't care for spiders but I like the cover, putting it on my (evergrowing) list.

OMG...that is just creepy...having a spider on your eye...yikes!

Looks interesting though...it is one of those book covers that make you reach out to see what the story is about and just creepy enough to make you take it home...grin...

I agree with you, Catherine, I loved the previous cover but felt it was more suited to fantasy and/or historical fiction. I loathe spiders, but the feeling of unease evoked by this new cover is exactly what I tried to capture in my own story. Glad we are both still onboard for what will be a first class cruise.

I'm really chuffed to find myself in a Morrigan book, and to be in such good company is a big bonus.

BTW, what was the cover for Age of Blood and Snow like? I don't think I ever saw it.

Hey Michael,
I looked for the cover on the Poisoned Apple but can't find it, so I don't think Catherine will mind if I give you this link (my own blog), where you can view the previous cover:

Hey Tom, thanks for showing me the cover for Blood and Snow. It's a beautiful piece of work and I daresay it fit the antho's theme, and yet it's a million miles from the Dead Souls cover, isn't it?

Congratulations, Catherine. It promises to be a great anthology from a promising up-and-coming company.

Thanks for your comments, everyone.

Michael & Tom - I removed the fabulous cover of The Age of Blood & Snow from my blog about a week ago - I was very reluctant to let it go. :)

That is one EYE CATCHING cover!
