Okay, so the Tall Ships are in Liverpool and of course my office had a prime view of the 'Parade of Sail', which was due to kick off at 2 o'clock yesterday.
Now how great is that, I just happen to finish work at two (not a minute before, I promise) and as no one seemed to be milling about the Princes Dock I figured I'd take a few photos on my walk home - FOOL! I step out of the office door and there are thousands of spectators - where did they come from? I suppose I could have gone back into work to take some photos but, nah, really wasn't going to happen.
Anyhow, I was lucky enough to take a few pictures from the window earlier in the day. I darted to the window every time I heard the rally cry of: "There's a ship, ahoy!" Okay, nobody said 'ahoy!' because that would be just plain odd.
Here are some pics:

Neat. They're like the boats out of "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea." You know, before Captain Nemo made them go boom.
It would have been cool to see the full parade...
I love tall ships. Harkens back to a bygone day.
And really, you seem taller on the internet. ;)
You should have said "ahoy"! If you'd said it often enough, maybe people would have moved out of your way. :)
The pictures are awesome!
Number 2 pic is my favorite--looks piratey!
I adore Tall Ships. Hornblower and Aubrey/Maturin reeled me in.
I am seethingly jealous!
They are quite romantic and a heap better than the container ships that roll by all day long.
Ooh -- tall ships!
I echo Rosie's sentiments. I love those nautical novels and have read them all several times over. We bought the whole O'Brian series and every once in a while, I take the entire 20-book voyage straight through. I'll never get rid of them.
And we almost saw this! We were driving down to the Midlands and passed the sign on the motorway that said "Tall Ships." I'm so ignorant, I thought it was a place name. In my own defense, there are some pretty weird place names in the U.K., but my husband got a LOT of mileage out of that.
I agree there are many, many weird place names in the UK. :) LOL!
