Signed up for the NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) today, where you have to complete 50,000 words of the first draft of a novel within the month of November.
HELP!
Complete madness considering I'm still in the middle of the first draft of The Poisoned Apple. And I'm still to decide on what I want to go with for NaNoWriMo. Three options: a) 'Dead Girl Rising' the second book in my Maiden Phoenix trilogy, which I have my characters and plot line for, or b) 'The Eurydice Satellite' taken from a dream I had a few months ago where an entire plot unfolded and I decided it was my Harry Potter on the train moment, or c) I've been itching to do an apocalyptic novel but have only a basic idea where I want to go.
I shall probably implode sometime mid-November.

I'm in the same boat. I'm going to be writing my zombie novel, but I'm about half-way through a different novel I'm writing. Here's what will happen (and, what happened last year during NaNoWriMo).
I will start my new novel out strong while working a little bit on the old one. I will then freak out about not working enough on my old one and try to increase my workload. I'll burn out with school and work and drop both of them only to get into a panicked writing flurry near the end of November, where I will get up to 25,000-30,000 words.
School, work and two novels - No one can blame you for burning out. Good luck Wendy :)

Hi. Just thought I'd come and say hi and 'ra ra ra' for NaNoWriMo. I like the idea of an apocalyptic novel too, but I think I'm going to write a spoof instead and give people a laugh.
I'm curious what you mean by your "Harry Potter on the train moment"?
Don't implode in Nov - there's plenty of encouragement that'll be going on!! (This is my first nanowrimo year but I've been so impressed by the nanowrimo site.)
Oh, a scheduled implosion in November is always fun. The Phoenix then rises and words fly!
